Like Tea shared, the amount of days, months as related to time is not clearly given; however, it is known that Zacharias was mute from the day he was visited by the angel Gabriel while burning incense in the temple according to the custom of priesthood until 8 days after the birth of his son, John the Baptist.

It is to believe that Zechariah was on Mute until after the baby was born. God silence him to reflect on this gift/miracle he gave them.

Elizabeth delivered and brought forth a son. On the eighth day when it was time for the child’s circumcision He was given the name John by Elizabeth and Zachariah wrote the name John on a tablet and his mouth was then opened and his tongue was loosed. Luke 1: 56-64
